According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Moscow, on January 30, the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the St. Petersburg organized a conference to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Vietnamese relations in the form of a combination of both face-to-face and online.

Attending the event were Vietnamese Ambassadors to the Russian Federation and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Vietnam, Deputy Head of the External Relations Department of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, Vice President of the Union of Friendship Organizations. Nguyen Van Doanh, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the St. Petersburg, Mr. Evgeny Grigoriev, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Russia Do Xuan Hoang, and numerous representatives of agencies, organizations, and universities of the two countries.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi affirmed that following 73 years, the relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation has overcome many challenges of time and today. is actively developing both in breadth and depth in all fields and is an invaluable asset of the two peoples.

In his speech, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko confirmed that Vietnam has always been one of the closest and most reliable partners of the Russian Federation in the Asia-Pacific region.

Despite the difficulties associated with the imposition of sanctions restrictions on the Russian Federation, the positive momentum of cooperation in key areas continues. Despite the decrease in bilateral trade turnover, Vietnam is still Russia’s largest trading partner in ASEAN.

Agreements reached through meetings and negotiations have created prerequisites for further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Mr. Grigoriev said that this conference is the continuation of the sixth project of the city’s Foreign Affairs Committee, which started in mid-November with the name “Celebrating the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s arrival in Russia. Mr. Grigoriev also said that in 2023 there will be many events organized by the city government under this project.

Representatives of the City of St. Petersburg confirmed that they and the Vietnamese side are making every effort so that the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the northern capital of Russia will be inaugurated in June, on the 100th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s arrival in Petrograt. .

Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Russia Do Xuan Hoang also said that the Vietnamese community in Russia is extremely proud and looks forward to the time of inaugurating the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in St. Petersburg.

Mr. Do Xuan Hoang expressed his wish to see in Vietnam a monument to honor Soviet and Russian experts – symbols of the friendship between the two countries.
