Solar panels blamed for horrific UK fire – World

A fire in an apartment building in the United Kingdom caused serious damage to 36 apartments. The responsibility for this tragedy has now been put on the solar panels. A fire risk assessment for an apartment building in East London did not mention that the solar panels were installed eight years ago.

More than 50 residents were evacuated from the Pembury Estate (Dilston Lane, Hackney). This is June 5th. Since then, these people have not been able to return to their homes. The roof of the building has been severely damaged. Repairs or reconstruction will take time.

The housing association of this residential building had stated in the fire risk assessment prepared in 2019 that there were no solar panels installed on the roof of the apartments.

In fact, solar panels had been installed on the roof for at least eight years. An impartial fire safety expert said the misrepresentation was extremely dangerous, putting dozens of lives at risk.

The London Fire Brigade has stated that since 2018, there have been 31 incidents of fire caused by solar panels in different areas of London.

Residents of the building where the latest incident happened have said that the management did not arrange to repair the roof even after realizing the danger, due to which the entire roof collapsed within two hours.
