Solar energy, the next source of power for electric mobility

The future of electric charging might become clearer with the arrival of many more or less successful projects relating to solar energy.

The principle is to benefit directly from the sun to be able to recharge your batteries throughout the day, rather than having to find a terminal to charge your car or use a household outlet for its bicycle or scooter battery.

The latest concept in this area comes to us from Indonesia, where a designer, Fajar Ismail, imagined a funny little electric motorcycle incorporating a solar panel. baptized Stellar Landcraftthis project is strongly inspired by the Atom Alpha from the Indonesian manufacturer Quest Motors, to which it has added an Ohlins suspension, a new saddle and a screen on which the driver will find all the useful information concerning in particular the level of charge of his battery.

Installed just in front of the seat, where the tank cap is usually located on a motorcycle “classic“, this small solar panel allows the machine to be continuously recharged while it is parked outside. Even while driving, it continues to accumulate energy.

For the moment, this is just a graphic designer’s delirium, but the idea of solar energy as a power source for electric vehicles is gaining ground. For example, this is already the case with Hyundai, which installed a solar roof on its Sonata, but also the municipality of Munich which is currently experimenting with buses also equipped with a solar roof or a Canadian startup that has developed small autonomous boats equipped with solar panels.
