A few years ago, S. Kanaverskytė was interviewed about the meaning of life and death by “Vakāru ekspres” and said: “Perhaps it sounds tragic, considering that a swan, being mute, sings only once – before death. But there is an optimistic version: the swan song means the last time, but not necessarily before death.

After that, the swan can live for a long time. It may happen that I live a long time. I can think of something else. My swan song is a longing song. It is a longing for kindness, nobility, generosity.

I think that every human being, like a swan, must soar upward, yearning for an ideal. Even if it isn’t, even if it never will be. Longevity is key. He calls away.”
