Sodexo Live! presented today, with Paris 2024, the recipes that will be offered at the Athletes’ Village. On the menu, a world tour in 500 recipes at the main restaurant, as well as a spotlight on French gastronomy with tastings of signature recipes. Sodexo Live! also unveiled with Paris 2024 the 100% vegetarian offer for spectators at the La Concorde site and essential takeaway recipes, which will be offered at 14 competition sites during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

On July 12, Sodexo Live! will open what will be the largest restaurant in the world for two months: Installed within the Olympic and Paralympic Village, of which it will be the nerve center, its 3,500 seats will allow, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, to accommodate 15,000 athletes from all over the world, from breakfast to dinner. In order to allow athletes to return to their habits in terms of food and flavors, while offering them an offer adapted to high-level sport, Sodexo Live! decided to work on a menu divided into four culinary themes: France, Asia, Africa-Caribbean and World Cuisines.

Thanks to the creativity of the Sodexo Live! teams, orchestrated by executive chef Charles Guilloy, 500 recipes will be offered to athletes throughout their stay at the Village: Grilled fish, meat and vegetables in minute cooking, but also some 120 daily dishes which will follow one another, will offer a wide choice to athletes, who will have no less than 40 different main dishes available to them every day, a third of which will be entirely plant-based. All of these recipes meet multiple challenges:

  • Offering a diet adapted to high-level athletes
  • Meet the different expectations and eating habits of more than 206 delegations
  • Give pleasure and provide a culinary experience worthy of the event
  • Fulfill the environmental commitments of the Food Vision co-constructed with Paris 2024, and in particular the reduction by half of the carbon footprint of plates.

Examples of dishes on the main restaurant menu:

France :

Vegetarian Burgundy

Cod brandade

Asia:

Ground pork with Thai basil / basmati rice

Cauliflower and Turmeric Roasted Potato

Africa/Caribbean:

Pan-fried pepper, onion, tomato and chili pepper (Chatchouka)

Sautéed shrimp, chermoula condiment

World cuisines:

Lamb, juice reduced with mint

Vegetable moussaka

To ensure better readability of the offer for athletes, each area of the restaurant will offer the same structure, the content of which will be partly adapted to each culinary theme: a salad bar offering more than 30 ingredients to assemble, a grill stand and garnishes, a hot buffet offering the dishes and pastas of the day, a soup stand, a cheese stand, a dairy stand, a dessert bar, as well as a bakery stand with 7 types of bread, a fruit stand and a table condiments.

Located in a strategic location, between the entrance to the Village and the restaurant, the Grab and Go XXL has been designed as a Food Court organized around a large 500m² outdoor terrace. This space will be friendly, offering different types of seats, standing tables, chairs, low seats, as well as tables, a pétanque court and entertainment. Two types of entertainment will be offered. On the one hand, a tasting workshop led by Sodexo Live! Charles Guilloy and Stéphane Chicheri, as well as three partner chefs: Akrame Benallal, Amandine Chaignot and Alexandre Mazzia. Each day of the Olympic Games and then the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the most gourmet athletes will be able to discover a different signature recipe, in tasting format and in limited edition (600 dishes per day). The five chefs will be present on site to present their work and interact with the athletes.

On the other hand, a bakery workshop consisting of a bakery where the production of baguettes will be carried out which will be used to make sandwiches, i.e. between 600 and 800 baguettes per day. In order to introduce athletes to this artisanal know-how, listed as UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage, athletes will be asked to make their own baguette with the help of Sodexo Live! The bakery will also offer the cocoa roll, the signature bread of Sodexo Live! for the Paris 2024 Games.

Sodexo Live! took up the challenge launched by Paris 2024: offering for the first time, on the Concorde site, emblematic of its location in the heart of the capital, a 100% vegetarian offer for the general public. Paris 2024 wanted to make this site a true demonstrator of its ambitions in terms of sustainable and gourmet food, to offer a catering offer perfectly aligned with the Food Vision. Paris 2024 has committed to halving the carbon footprint of Games meals compared to the national average by doubling the plant-based portion. For La Concorde, the urban park of Paris 2024, in line with some pioneering events or sports clubs, Paris 2024 wanted to go further with 100% of the offers offered to the General Public being vegetarian. 15 different recipes, including some new for the Games, will be offered on the site. La Concorde will therefore be a demonstrator site which will accelerate the transformation of the general public’s dining habits towards a more sustainable model during sporting events.
