The young creators who won the JCDecaux main prize in 2022 will use the abstraction of their duo as a tool to arouse curiosity, provoke and introduce the surprises of contemporary art.
When invited to introduce himself, Žygymantas Julijs Bērontas says: “Creation is like an underground world, where usually unnoticed or misunderstood Beings (recently – Fly, Snail, Makita pump and many others…) gain a voice and find a space to tell their story.
Žygimantas is helped by cockroaches and various other Dwarves in his quest to expand and connect the boundaries of different disciplines and to look for alternatives to conventional narratives. After graduating from the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor’s degree in photography and media, Žygymantas continues his artistic path in exhibitions, illustrating publications, writing texts, …, dancing, participating in unofficial “Sophisticated sandwich contests” and so on.
For Žygimantas, born under the sign of Aries, creativity is both a kind of rebellion once morest boredom and a way to ignite oneself and others to see reality in a new way, realizing its multi-layered and magical nature.”
Gabija Liucija Pernavaitė (or maybe Pamela27) also tells regarding herself: “Drawing a line is a big job. When you’re 25 or even 30, you can just do things, like walk through a curtain of shiny ribbon doors. / Throughout her art, Pamela27 paints a vivid picture (using a wide range of means of expression – text, sculptures, performance, chance, etc.) – a world with nests and expectations fulfilled around the corner, on the map, on the radar.

She talks regarding friends who have left, there is room in the corners of history for missed opportunities – sometimes you need to hide the passing time somewhere. In imagery, there is a lot of thinking and experiencing; especially important friends, like bumps in a (board) game, the potential of a plant, curl for tomorrow.
Pamela27’s work is a spell for the wonders of the dense underground moisture and the fluffy and shining canopy, which are always on, like, for example, a confused cross-section or an unexpected white blinding flash, or to see wings, guided by the outline of an attractive white feather. All this – spreads the color of love, places, spaces covered with tiles; built inclusions.”
