It was the Council of Ministers of the Government of Quebec, on the recommendation of the Board of Directors, which proceeded with the appointment of Mr. Farcy, as required by the protocol.

Jacques Farcy was already known in the business community, having been CEO of the SQDC for the past two years. He also held vice-presidential positions at the SAQ just before, from 2015 to 2021. It will therefore be a return to basics for the man who has thirty years of management experience in his pocket. .

“I congratulate Mr. Farcy on this appointment […] Drawing on his experience as a manager and his knowledge of the government corporation, I am confident that he will be able to effectively support its development and performance, for the benefit of all Quebecers,” said Eric Girard, Minister of Finance and Minister responsible for Relations with English-Speaking Quebecers in a press release

This decision was made following the departure of former President and CEO Catherine Dagenais. She will be retiring following more than 23 years of service with the SAQ.
