The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced that it will not make payments to its beneficiaries in certain months of next year 2025. In fact, the deposit schedule for the next year has already been established.
For next year, Social Security has already established that SSI beneficiaries will receive a total of 12 payments. It has also been determined that during January, February, March, June, September and November, Supplemental Security Income payments will not be sent on the first day of the month.
Deposits will be made on the previous business day. For this reason, in the months prior to those mentioned, a double payment will be made: one at the beginning of the month and another at the end. Thanks to these adjustments, SSI members will be the first to receive the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) that is approved for 2025.
This group of people will be able to secure this “advance” as of December 31 of this year. These are the requirements to be met to register for the SSI.
Aspects that determine payments
Age, blindness or disability
Age: You must be 65 years or older.
Blindness: You must be legally blind (corrected vision no better than 20/200 in the better eye or a visual field limited to 20 degrees or less).
Disability: You must have a medical condition that prevents you from working and is expected to last at least 12 months or result in death.
Residency and citizenship
You must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
Income
Your monthly income must be below certain limits. Income includes money you receive from jobs, benefits from other programs, or support from family and friends.
Some are not counted, such as the first $20.00 USD of monthly income and the additional $65.00 USD of employment payments.
Resources
Assets must be below certain limits: $2,000 USD for individuals and $3,000 USD for couples. This includes cash, bank accounts, property, and other assets.
Application
You must apply for SSI benefits. This can be done at a local Social Security office, online, or by phone.
If you meet these requirements, you may be eligible to receive SSI.
