New National Plan for Social Interventions and Services Receives Warm Welcome from Social Workers
The Social Protection and Inclusion Network has officially endorsed the new National Plan of Social Interventions and Services, setting the stage for a three-year roadmap (2024-2026) aimed at bolstering social well-being across the country. This plan encompasses both the National Social Plan and a dedicated Plan for Social Interventions and Services to combat poverty.
“This is excellent news,” declared Barbara Rosina, president of the Social Protection and Inclusion Network. “Finally, just before the deadline, an important national plan has been approved, providing much-needed programmatic direction for social intervention and service networks financed by national funds.”
Rosina emphasized that regional programming will be a key element in the plan’s implementation. This approach, she explained, aims to “respect and enhance” collaboration with local authorities, ensuring that social services are tailored to the specific needs of diverse communities.
“As far as we understand,” Rosina continued, “there are fundamental elements linked to LEPS – the framework for ensuring the autonomy and protection of individuals experiencing social disadvantage –
and the guarantees of rights for all members of our society. We sincerely hope that the final text will be signed as soon as possible and that the process unfolds without any unforeseen disruptions.”
Collaboration and Involvement in the Planning Process
Rosina expressed gratitude to Minister Marina Calderone, Deputy Minister Bellucci, and the entire team at the Ministry of Labor for their dedication and collaborative spirit throughout the planning process. “We were integral to this process, involved as experts in the system,” she revealed. “We hope our proposals have been fully considered. We eagerly await the definitive text, which will be operationalized through a decree from the Minister of Labor and Social Policies, in agreement with the Minister of Economy and Finance, and approved by the Unified Conference.”
Looking Ahead: A Focus on Integrated Services and Social Well-being
Rosina concluded by affirming the network’s commitment to closely monitoring the implementation of the plan. She expressed optimism that it will pave the way for the creation of a comprehensive and integrated system of interventions and social services, ultimately leading to the achievement of social well-being goals. “We will pay close attention to every step,” she stated.
“Our hope is that this plan allows us to advance the creation of an integrated system of interventions and social services, through which we can pursue the objectives of social well-being, with special attention to the professionals who dedicate themselves to achieving this well-being for all.”
