The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhennouch chaired, on Friday February 18, 2022 in Rabat, the work of the steering committee for the implementation of the social protection project, in which Mrs. Nadia Fettah, Minister of the Economy took part. and Finance, Mr. Khalid Ait Taleb, Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mr. Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mrs. Fatima Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy; Mr. Mohammed Abdeljalil, Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget, as well as the Director General of the National Social Security Fund, Mr. Hassan Boubrik.
This meeting is part of the monitoring of the implementation of the social protection project and the review of the progress of its work, particularly in its component relating to the generalization of medical coverage.
In a speech on this occasion, the Head of Government recalled the High Royal Instructions contained in the sovereign’s speech on the occasion of the opening of the legislative year in October 2020, in which HM King Mohammed VI, may God assists him, had called for the generalization of medical coverage to all Moroccans by the end of 2022, as well as the commitment of the government to implement this project in accordance with the timetable set .
The Head of Government gave his orientations to the members of the government, as well as to the Director General of the CNSS, with a view to undertaking communication and awareness-raising campaigns aimed at accelerating the adherence of citizens to this royal project, in view of its positive impact on the protection of citizens’ health and the guarantee of their access to the right to health.
The Head of Government also commended the work accomplished so far, the government having taken care to speed up the completion of the legal arsenal for the implementation of the royal project relating to social protection.
He mentioned in this respect the adoption of 14 decrees, which gave the possibility to 11 million self-employed workers and their dependents, to benefit from medical coverage, who will thus benefit from compulsory health insurance. covering the costs of medical consultation, medication, hospitalization and care. The final touches are currently being made to 4 new decrees which will notably concern artists, journalists and people working in the transport and tourism sectors.
This meeting was an opportunity to present projects related to the social protection project and to examine the means of developing them, in particular the extension of medical coverage to all Moroccans, the governance of the social protection and the upgrading of social welfare institutions.
It should be noted that this meeting is the second to be held by the steering committee for the implementation of the social protection project, since the advent of the current government.
