Gustavo Gonzalezpresident of the Yellow Fleet Chamber of Chubut (CAFACH), explained that the idea is to work “on three axes that include different periods of selection, classification and training of interested parties, so that they can work both on land, through processing plants, and at sea, aboard fishing boats.”

The actions also include the different unions related to the fishing industry, which would actively participate in the diversification process by activity.

In turn, the leader announced that the project will be presented in the coming days before the Honorable Chamber of Deputies and before the three political forces with the greatest possibilities of becoming president in the next general elections.

What is this project regarding

The idea is to add between 1,500 to 2,000 new people to the system, with an initial salary for the activity that today is in the order of $385,000.

People who currently receive a plan will agree to receive training in these areas and while this training lasts, they will continue receiving the plan.

“We really see a great possibility, because we have products like hake and anchovy that require a lot of labor capacity.” of people,” remarked the head of Cafach.

At the same time, although the representative of the entity recognized that “the viability of the project will depend on some actions facilitated by the national executive in terms of tax reduction, tax benefits, certification of species and access to public credits for the construction and renovation of fleets”, highlights that the most important thing for the fishing industry will be “to add personnel to be able to expand the productive matrix and advance diversification by species, both prevailing actions for the development of the activity.”

Industrialists foresee a triumph for Milei and warn: “it doesn’t matter who is second”

In one of its foundations, the project clearly proposes “joint work between the public and the private to provide real responses to a vulnerable sector of the population that has never been able to seriously reconvert its employment situation.”

In this sense, CAFACH recognizes that They seek to break the mistrust that has always existed regarding the incorporation of people who are beneficiaries of plans, “due to preconceptions and unfounded stereotypes.”

Finally, Gustavo González indicated that the fishing industry seeks to establish itself as a “spearhead” for other business chambers to take advantage of the labor potential lacking in opportunities and contribute a grain of sand in the occupational and economic reconstruction of the country as a whole.

Other similar initiatives

Currently, there are two official job placement programs that promote the same transformation (“Protected Income to Employment” and “Bridge to Employment”), following other similar plans that existed during Mauricio Macri’s administration.

However, the data shows that just under 5% of beneficiaries achieved their goal. According to the latest official statistics, with the current programs (between 2020 and 2022) only 63,163 people (4.2% of the total) obtained a formal job, of which 53,445 (3.6%) are still in their trial, while only 9,718 (0.6%) permanently left the plan and replaced it with formal employment.
