Communications Minister Freddy Ñáñez said on Tuesday, August 20, that the National Government expects the social network X to present documents from its board of directors so that they can operate in Venezuela.
“What is required is that this company presents a document with its board of directors, with the representative of Venezuela, the manager in charge of the operations of X and that person in charge accepts and complies with Venezuelan laws,” the official explained in an interview.
The head of the communications portfolio indicated that if the records are recorded regarding the company’s board of directors or representative of ‘X’ in Venezuelayes, the platform could be legally used in national territory.
Ñáñez also said that the blocking of the ‘X’ platform in the country remains in place and indicated that Venezuela will soon use new social networks.
“Venezuela can live without X, I guarantee it. What is going to happen in Venezuela is that new social networks are going to start to appear. The social networks that China has, in terms of software, content and possibilities, are infinitely superior,” he added.
Following the election, President Nicolás Maduro ordered the network to be suspended for 10 days, so users must use a VPN to access the platform.
