Social media activist Imran Ghazali has been appointed as the head of DMW.
After the Prime Minister’s approval, Imran Ghazali has been appointed as the head of the Digital Media Wing by the Ministry of Information. DMW has done recruitment in 2 scales. One in MP2 and 5 in MP3 pay scale have been sanctioned. Appointments of MP2 Grade 21 and MP3 will be equivalent to Grade 20. Imran Ghazali has been approved for appointment in MP2. Mohammad Muzamal Hassan, Usman bin Zaheer, Shahbaz Khan, Naeem Ahmed Yasin, Saeeda Dhank Hashmi have been approved for appointment in MP3 scale. The process of appointing more than 12 people on fixed salary in the digital media wing has been completed.
Digital Media Wing (DMW) is an established unit of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, which was established this year after Cabinet approval. It will act as a strategic unit for the Government of Pakistan and ensure delivery of authentic government updates on digital media, digital public relations, and factual media content. DMW is committed to revolutionizing the use of digital media in Pakistan.
A growing team keeping in mind the facts will play a strong role in promoting the interests of the state of Pakistan at the local and international level. This team will strengthen the Government of Pakistan by providing an authentic, robust and standardized communication platform for the 21st century. DMW is responsible for creating digital content for government media assets, organizing social media accounts of all government ministries, verifying and enhancing digital media presence.
Head of Digital Media Wing Imran Ghazali has 14 years of experience in digital media. He is one of the founders of social media campaigns in Pakistan and has 120 thousand followers on his personal account. He continues to speak as a social media strategist at various public events. Additionally, he has been guiding many global organizations in terms of digital media strategy.
Imran Ghazali most recently worked as a social media consultant at DAFPAK, a DFID-run family planning programme.
Earlier, he headed the digital strategy of Sabz Saaf Pakistan, a project of the Ministry of Climate Change. He was posted as a UNICEF consultant in the said ministry.
He played an important role in the implementation of the digital policy of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and has also been a consultant to World Bank Pakistan for the Digital Youth Summit at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board.
As a volunteer, Imran Ghazali also conducted workshops at NITB in collaboration with Facebook to teach government officials how to effectively use digital platforms.
From December 2016 to August 2018, Imran Ghazali worked with Al-Alan as Head of National Digital Campaign. This campaign is known as the biggest campaign in the history of Pakistan in the context of educational reforms. He did the digital planning for the last two years of the campaign, resulting in increased reach and social media outreach.

Demonstrated experience transforming a nascent business unit into an organized unit equipped with sound strategy, excellent creative content, social media organization and analytical reports.
Imran is one of the founding members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf. It is you who made the online presence of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf possible on social media (including Facebook pages and Twitter accounts).
He has been part of the PTI web team since 2007. Played a central role in the recruitment, training and organization of hundreds of volunteers. During the 2013 elections, he was elected as the head of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s social media team, where he developed the team’s organizational structure. Moreover, from the foundation of the digital campaign to planning, from strategizing to execution, everything was done under his supervision. This digital campaign is still considered to be the most successful social media campaign in Pakistani political history.
After the 2013 elections, he was appointed Head of PTI Social Media Operations. As operational head, he reorganized 300 team members across the country. Imran Ghazali is also credited with verifying about 30 Twitter accounts and Facebook pages of PTI, including the accounts of the top leadership. Later these verified accounts proved to be of immense help in the 2018 elections.
In the past, he led the Pakistan American Students Association and turned it into the best student organization of The Ohio State University.
Imran received his Bachelors (Hons) degree from The Ohio State University in 2009.
