An electric car for 100 euros per month. Emmanuel Macron’s campaign promise is materializing. Elisabeth Borne presented it this Wednesday, April 26 as part of her “100 days” roadmap under the name of social leasing.

A priority included in the chapter on ecological transition to facilitate everyone’s access to clean vehicles. Social leasing will be implemented this fall with the first electric vehicle deliveries in early 2024.

Concretely, this is a long-term rental, a device already widely practiced at dealerships, allowing for 100 euros per month to drive with a new electric vehicle. We do not yet know the exact terms and conditions to benefit from it. Indeed, it is a social measure for modest homes which will be subject to income conditions.
