Soccer player Ki Seong-yong donated 2 billion won to children from disadvantaged groups in Korea and dreamed of soccer, and apologized for the alleged violation of the Agricultural Land Act, which was previously controversial.

He continued, “I wanted to relieve some of my regrets and apologies, so I decided to donate it through World Vision, where we shared a lot of vision. It will be used for dream trees,” he added.

Ki Sung-yong also said, “I am well aware that by doing this, I cannot be forgiven and restored. Even if it is selfishness that I want to alleviate a little bit of my troubled heart, I would be really grateful if it was put to good use in a necessary place.

Previously, Ki Seong-yong was investigated by the police last year on charges of illegally changing a part of the land by submitting a false agricultural management plan in the process of purchasing 10 farmland including farmland in Geumho-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju with his father, Young-ok Ki in 2016. Ki Seong-yong was not sent on the grounds that it was difficult to admit the charges, but Ki Young-ok was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and a fine of 10 million won.

Meanwhile, Ki Seong-yong has been providing regular support to five overseas children and one domestic child since 2008, and has been providing regular support every year until now. Through this sponsorship, Ki Sung-yong’s accumulated donations through World Vision amounted to approximately KRW 3 billion.
