The regional press echoes the concerns of the French
The “energy sobriety” demanded by the government to deal with the energy crisis is pushing individuals but also communities to make efforts, some of which upset fellow citizens.
In the Manche, in Périers, the mayor, Gabriel Daube (UDI), responded favorably to the government’s call, reports The Parisian.
The heating of the classes of the commune will thus be regulated at 19 degrees. However, the school is modern, “very glazed”explains the city councilor, and depending on weather variations ” he can [y] get cold very quickly ». It’s for “to prevent children from shivering as the city has invested in fleeces made in France, all the more so, explains Gabriel Daube, that many children come from underprivileged families, then the issue is also social. »
This decision allows a saving of 4,000 euros (10,000 euros less the 6,000 that the fleeces will cost). However, the calculations are difficult to convince. “Is this a hoax?” »asks Eric Labastie, co-president of the FCPE, one of the main federations of parents of students. “And soon, what will it be, mittens? And in the canteen, one day no dessert, the next no starter? » For the family representative, “The public authorities must ensure that schools are properly heated, and if it is necessary to cut corners, it is not on the health of the children! »
In Rennes, the water temperature in municipal swimming pools has been lowered to save energy. The news is hard to get across. The coach of the hopeful pole, Mathieu Burban, estimates with West France that“at 24 degrees no practice is possible”. “26.5 degrees, for example, is the temperature that is recommended in competition, because you need cool water due to the intensity of the effort. (…) Swimming in water at 24 degrees is like trying to work in your underwear at your desk when it’s 10 degrees. You won’t be working very long…”
