So, Cyclone! / San Lorenzo de Almagro

San Lorenzo Shines: A Victory for the Ages

Well, well, well! If it isn’t San Lorenzo, strutting their stuff like a peacock in a tuxedo while everyone else resembles a soggy potato sack! The Cyclone, or as I like to call them, ‘El Ciclón,’ has achieved a monumental win. It was a tense affair, though not nearly as tense as last week’s family dinner with Uncle Larry and his conspiracy theories about the moon landing! With a 1-0 victory over Barracas Central, thanks to Alexis Cuello’s emphatic goal, you can bet the town of Barça is rejoicing like they’ve just found a long-lost sock—one that matches, obviously!

Now, let’s talk about the star of the show, or rather, the man of the hour—Miguel Angel Russo! What a way to make a debut on the substitute bench! He walked in like the new kid in class with a lunchbox full of optimism, and lo and behold, they leave with three golden points. Can you imagine the amount of glitter and confetti they’re throwing around right now? Iker Muniain, bless his heart, donned the captain’s armband for the first time, leading his troops into battle like a gladiator in a shiny helmet—albeit one that’s been given a good polish! It’s amazing he didn’t injure himself just picking it up.

Now, I have to say, watching San Lorenzo play was like watching a masterchef prepare a gourmet meal with nothing but a rock and a piece of string. They’re trying to slice through Barracas’ defenses, but it was like watching a mime try to explain what a jackhammer does—lots of effort and little impact! The cleverness of Cuello was evident as he wormed his way past defenders, all while his teammates—Remedi and Irala—were desperately trying to recover lost balls like they were hunting for valuables in a kids’ ball pit full of sticky candy. But let’s face it, Barracas Central were closing down tighter than a jar of pickles after leg day, and that safety lid was making it difficult for anyone to loosen up!

As we ventured into the second half, the excitement built up like anticipation for a roller-coaster that broke down mid-way up. Just two minutes in, San Lorenzo whipped up a play that would have made even David Copperfield’s jaw drop! Bustos opened the ball to the right, and there was Cerutti with a cross that was both beautiful and deadly; it was like watching a romantic movie where the couple finally kisses—magical! And in swoops Cuello like a superhero with a header that sent the crowd into ecstasy. Oh, Bidegain must’ve exploded with joy; I wouldn’t be surprised if confetti cannons went off spontaneously!

But let’s not forget Barracas—poor Barracas! Not much in the way of plays to excite their fans, and as the game went on, it grew violent faster than a reality TV show reunion. I mean, who needs a referee when you’ve got players practically auditioning for a soccer-themed version of ‘Fight Club’? However, San Lorenzo, with the confidence of a cat that just caught a laser pointer, managed to shut down any attempts at a comeback, with Muniain strutting about like he was on a catwalk, only with slightly less glitter and more sweat.

So here we are, San Lorenzo heads into their next match against Independiente Rivadavia in Mendoza at the respectable hour of 9:45 p.m. Isn’t that delightful? They’ll be rolling in with the gusto of a caffeinated toddler, ready to claim more victories. Who knows? Maybe Cuello will score again, Muniain will need a new captain’s hat, and if they’re really lucky, they might even find out where Barracas Central went wrong. Spoiler alert: It wasn’t just their defense – it was their inability to stop San Lorenzo from playing!

So buckle up, football fans! The Cyclone is on a roll, and trust me, you won’t want to miss this ride.

This win was needed. And San Lorenzo achieved it, fighting until the end, with that much shouted goal by Alexis Cuello, a 1-0 win over Barracas Central that the entire Barça town celebrated with a clenched fist. El Ciclón thus added its fifth victory in this League tournament, which already had 18 dates, and Miguel Angel Russo had a happy debut on the substitute bench.

With Iker Muniain wearing the captain’s hat for the first time, San Lorenzo relied on its football wisdom to seek victory. Up top, Alexis Cuello worried the center backs and, in the middle, Remedi and Irala tried to recover the ball quickly. There weren’t many chances, because Barracas was closing, but the visit didn’t worry Chila Gómez either.

At the start of the complement, after two minutes, San Lorenzo created a great play: Bustos opened it to the right, Cerutti overflowed, took a great cross and found the accurate header from Cuello, who is always there. Cyclone goal, Bidegain explosion and three gold points.

Barracas did not create many plays, the game became violent and the game fell into a hole. San Lorenzo, with a lot of personality, closed the match, under the leadership of a Muniain who became master and excited. Now, let’s go for more, Ciclón: next Saturday at 9:45 p.m., San Lorenzo will visit Independiente Rivadavia, in Mendoza.
