The National Union of Press Workers (Sntp) denounced this Monday, August 1, that the mayor of the Campo Elías municipality of Mérida state, Simon Figueroaaccused a journalist when calling a radio station where he maintains a program.

The Sntp rejected this type of action by “public officials (who) try to discredit the work of journalists who work to make the demands of citizens visible.”
In another tweet they said that Figueroa also pointed out to the social communicator that he had a campaign once morest two other Chavista mayors of that entity, in western Venezuela. The union appointed the mayors of Libertador, Jesús Varela, and Arón Araque of the Sucre municipality.

The Sntp also on its Twitter account announced its support for the result of the LVI Secretariat of the National College of Journalists of Venezuelawhich decided to make an appeal to the Public Ministry to ask it to combat the illegal exercise of journalism in Venezuela, as it does with other professions.
