Snowstorm forces 400 motorists to sleep on highway in Chile

A major snowstorm on Saturday in the Valparaiso region of central Chile caused many headaches for motorists.

According to Archyde.com, more than 400 motorists were stuck for hours on roads in the mountainous area of ​​Los Caracoles.

Chilean authorities began rescuing motorists the day following the storm. The army was even called in to help clear the snow-covered roads.

Several trucks and buses were blocked for hours, which complicated the work of rescuers and tugs.

Relief operations were still taking place two days following the start of the low pressure system.

Temperatures of -10 degrees Celsius as well as accumulations of 100 cm of snow have been recorded by the country’s meteorological agencies.
