Snowfall: Istanbul airport closed | istanbul airport shut down due to snow

ISTANBUL: Europe’s busiest Istanbul airport closed on Monday due to heavy snowfall. Schools and vaccination camps in Athens have been closed following a snowstorm in the eastern Mediterranean. The roof of the airport’s cargo terminal collapsed in the snow. But no one is hurt. Flights from West Asian countries to Africa, Europe and Asia have been suspended due to airport closures. 3.7 crore passengers relied on Istanbul airport last year.

The governor of Istanbul has imposed strict restrictions on the entry of vehicles into the city. Across the city, several cars were seen skidding off the road and crashing out of control. Many vehicles have fallen off the road and into the abyss. The snowy area is on the border with Bulgaria and Greece.

1.6 crore people were affected by the severe cold. Most of the roads and cities in the area are completely covered in snow. Several shopping malls were closed, including malls and restaurants. In Greece, the temperature dropped to minus 14 degrees Celsius overnight. The session of Parliament was adjourned due to heavy snowfall.
