Winter for some, fall for others
A depression coming from Western Canada is approaching Quebec and will leave a variety of precipitation there between Thursday and Friday. No menu available however, it will be the “chef’s choice” depending on the sector. Starting Thursday evening, and during the day on Friday, the Capitale-Nationale, Saguenay and Lac-Saint-Jean regions should receive light to moderate snowfall. Sculptors who love snowmen will be well served. Temperatures will be around freezing point, so flakes should be perfect for this kind of activity.
Little guys
It will be necessary to moderate the expectations regarding the size of the men, however, because the accumulations should not exceed 5 to 10 cm, except in mountainous terrain. However, this will be more than enough to make the roads slippery. The pavement might be partly snowy in places, but visibility shouldn’t be affected too much.
Watch out for ice
The situation might be more worrying in certain sectors of the northern crown of Montreal, namely the Lower Laurentians. The ice is likely to occur overnight from Thursday to Friday, until Friday morning. The morning rush hour might therefore be tricky in this region on Friday morning, with roads possibly icy in places. Caution and patience will be required.
South Rinse Cycle
South of the St. Lawrence River, the snow will give way to rain. We will have to say goodbye to the little snow that might still be on the ground on Thursday. Not only might the temperatures reach 8 degrees, but in addition, 5 to 10 mm of rain will fall on the Outaouais, Montérégie, Estrie and Centre-du-Québec regions and should complete the job. The Montreal region should receive a little less, between 2 and 5 mm.
