Snickers chocolate bar maker Mars Wrigley has apologized for launching its product on the island of Taiwan. On social media, Chinese users believe that the manufacturer’s ad designates Taiwan as a country.
“Videos and photos of an event promoting a limited edition Snickers bar said to be available only in the ‘countries’ of South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan have gone viral on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo,” a source told Archyde.com.
The manufacturer admitted the fault, in his Snickers China Weibo account posted an apology and said that this content had been changed. The scandal occurred due to the fact that the Chinese authorities consider the island to be their historical territory. And Taiwan declares itself independent from China.
