The Minister of Transport Clément Beaune calls on the unions and the management of the SNCF to “collective responsibility” to avoid the strikes announced for the end of the year celebrations.
The Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune calls this Saturday for “collective responsibility” to avoid end-of-year strikes at the SNCF, in the middle of the weekend of mobilization of the controllers of the railway company.
“I can’t bring myself to have things written down”, despite the filing of new strike notices for the holiday period, said the minister, on the sidelines of the inauguration of a building at Roissy airport -Charles-de-Gaulle: “Let’s work in the coming days to avoid this (…) I will do everything at my level”.
4 out of 10 TGVs run
SNCF traffic is in line with forecasts this Saturday. About 4 out of 10 TGVs and Intercités operate. The controllers have launched a three-day strike which concerns the status and wages. The SNCF transport plan provides for this weekend:
- 1 out of 2 trains on the TGV Nord,
- 1 out of 3 trains on the TGV Est
- 1 out of 4 trains on the TGV Atlantique
- 1 train out of 3 on the TGV Sud-Est
- 1 of 4 on Ouigo
- No night trains
The TER circulate normally and are not affected by this social movement. The €1 TER operation launched by the Occitanie region on the first weekend of each month therefore remains in force. SNCF plans a “gradual” resumption of traffic on Monday, December 5. Only 3 out of 4 TGVs will be in circulation on all axes.
The collective of striking controllers has filed a strike notice for the Christmas and New Year weekends in order to put pressure on the management of the SNCF. “We will do our best to ensure that there is no strike at Christmas”, assure the unions.
