2023-08-11 21:26:53

Launched on August 8, the SNCF payment service in installments will allow travelers to calibrate the payment of certain train tickets.

A solution launched in the greatest of silences. In collaboration with the start-up dedicated to payment, Alma, the SNCF launched on August 8 the possibility of paying for your train ticket in three instalments. However, neither of the two actors has communicated on this subject for the time being, as reported by the Parisian.

A payment in three installments limited to certain cards

This solution, expected by many users, will however be limited to certain tickets. Indeed, only tickets whose price is higher than 150 euros are eligible, whether it is a TGV or FlixBus journey. In addition, payments in three instalments are reserved for holders of a Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Visa Electro, Maestro or Bancontact card.

Bank charges up to 1.5%

Paying, the service set up by Alma will be the responsibility of the buyer, who will have to pay a fee of 1.5% on the first payment. Subsequently, the buyer will be charged 30 and 60 days following the initial date of purchase of the train or bus ticket.

This means of payment, which appeals to many French people in other sectors such as household appliances, aims to win back the public and transport users who have witnessed a rise in prices due to energy prices.
