New disruptions in sight. This Friday, December 1, travel by rail promises to be difficult. In fact, the SNCF has warned its travelers about the social networks : a national strike will strongly impact train traffic in Occitania throughout the day. For the moment, the railway company does not yet know which lines are disrupted, but the railway company invites passengers to regularly consult the timetable pages of their website. These are regularly updated.

A national SNCF strike impacting train circulation

The unions in the Occitanie region are thus responding to a call for a national strike by the CGT railway workers, which should impact train traffic throughout France. The objective: “To extract better remuneration and better working conditions from management. » This new mobilization concerns in particular the employees of the 21 French Infra Circulation Establishments (EIC). Their missions were as follows: to control signals and switches to find train routes; traffic regulation; starting or stopping trains; the detection and resolution of conflicts between traffic and the handling of incidents.

The CGT, however, deplores miserable working conditions: “Railroad workers are still suffering from a lack of staff and real salary recognition for their profession, the lack of less arduous positions and the failure to take into account all return to service time. Leave is regularly refused or imposed. Reserve agents and local leaders are overexploited and used beyond regulatory provisions. »

What the SNCF unions are asking for

The unions hope to make things happen. They rely in particular on examples where “massive local mobilizations force national and local management to bend”: “After several days of strike, the Traffic agents of the PRCI of Le Mans saved their positions and obtained a revision of the master plan of the CCR Grand Ouest. In Normandy, on November 13, a strike initiated by the CGT mobilized more than 78% of railway workers who were exhausted by their working conditions. This fight has enabled an increase in the number of recruitments in 2024, the return of rotations to 5 agents and the improvement of the training plan. »

The CGT has several demands. She thus wishes:

Recognition of service return time of 15 minutes and neutralization of counts.

Doubling the work bonus for everyone.

The creation of less arduous positions for railway workers at the end of their careers.

It is for these reasons that the railway workers’ union has filed a strike notice covering all EIC staff for the period from Thursday November 30 at 7 p.m. to Saturday December 2 at 8 a.m.
