This Thursday followingnoon, the discovery of a shell on a construction site near La Louvière-Centre station brought rail traffic to a halt. It was around 1:30 p.m. that SNCB was informed of this discovery.
“Traffic was then interrupted from the stations of Manage and Braine-le-Comte to La Louvière”, we are confirmed.
Buses have been planned to replace these routes. Warned live, the SNCB spokesperson announces an imminent resumption of rail traffic. “The SEDEE teams (the Service for the Removal and Destruction of Explosive Devices) arrived on site faster than expected”, we are told.
Mine clearance would then have started at 2:30 p.m. If rail traffic should be able to resume shortly, delays are to be expected at peak times, warns SNCB.
