The Montreal company SNC-Lavalin, specializing in infrastructure construction, will change its name to AtkinsRéalis.
This was announced on Tuesday by its chairman and CEO, Ian Edwards, who stressed that it is a “new name for a transformed company”.
“Over the past few years, we have deliberately repositioned the company,” he added. “We withdrew from activities that were not profitable or aligned with our strategy; we have resolved the fundamental issues; we have redoubled our efforts in high-growth global markets; we have undertaken our digital transformation; and, most important of all, we redefined our purpose and strengthened our culture.”
The new name combines “Atkins” – the name of one of the company’s subsidiaries which is used in international markets – and the term “Réalis” which is intended to be inspired by the city of Montreal to highlight the company’s Quebec roots. .
“In addition, “Réalis” evokes the verb “realize” or “make possible”, perfectly designating the attention we pay to the results and the realization of our projects,” the company specified in its press release.
The SNC-Lavalin name will therefore disappear on Wednesday, while the company’s ordinary shares will trade under the new logo from September 18.
The official name change will not take place until the annual meeting of shareholders in 2024, as required by law.
