The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be announced later this month during Qualcomm’s Tech Summit event. As the launch approaches, it is natural that test results will leak and reveal some details.
This time, the top-of-the-line chip went through the AnTuTu benchmarking platform with LPDDR5T RAM memory. It is worth remembering that it is an improvement over the LPDDR5X, used in several current flagships.
Qualcomm’s SoC didn’t impress in the CPU test, but it brought a considerable leap forward in the GPU. According to informant Digital Chat Station, it performed 40% better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Qualcomm’s current flagship platform.
In total, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 prototype with LPDDR5T RAM tested scored 2 million on AnTuTu, a 25% increase compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
When analyzing the numbers, the big star of the test was the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 GPU. Compared to its predecessor, the tested platform obtained 840,000 points, a number 40% higher than the 600,000 obtained by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
However, the informant claims that the commercial version of the chip should feature LPDDR5X and not the faster version. According to some rumors, the Dimensity 9300 will be the first chip in the world to hit the market with LPDDR5T RAM memory.
As all tests were conducted with faster RAM, it is expected that the commercial version will have lower results when using LPDD5X. For now, we just have to wait for the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to get a sense of this margin of difference.
