Artificial intelligence is growing everywhere, even on Snapchat. The yellow ghost social network launched its AI a few months ago to answer all users’ questions. The application released new features this week, including generating images using AI.
Currently only paying subscribers will have access to this feature. They will be able to retrieve images already generated by the AI but also to submit their own request. Once the image has been built from scratch by the AI, it can be downloaded by users. Those who wish can also share it with their loved ones.
Ever more artificial photos
Thanks to the new Dream feature implemented in the application, Snapchat is now able to provide a unique background for users to dress up their selfies. These funds are, however, limited in number. Paying Snapchat subscribers will have eight dreams per month to test this feature.
Another feature announced this week by Snapchat is the ability to enlarge a photo in the application. Thanks to its powerful AI, Snapchat will now be able to provide a wider field around an image. As the brand explains in its presentation, if you take a photo of your dog but have zoomed in too much, the AI will be able to recreate the animal’s environment in a larger but equally detailed image.
Integrated features
All these features already exist on the web but no application has yet managed to group them under the same banner. Snapchat’s challenge is therefore to convince users to use the application for all their AI-related uses. To finance their project, the social network launched a paid premium usage offer during the summer. The Phantom charges $3.99 per month for unrestricted use of the application.
According to its own figures, Snapchat now has 7 million paying subscribers worldwide. The movement does not seem ready to run out of steam, Snapchat having had the best month in its history in November with an increasing subscription rate.
In every country where Snapchat+ is available, subscription has seen double-digit growth and it just brought in more than $20 million in November alone. Liquidity necessary to operate the social network as a whole, which is in great financial difficulty. In 2022 alone, the ghost had suffered losses of $1.4 billion.
