The National Comprehensive Care Service for Adults Deprived of Liberty and Adolescent Offenders (SNAI) ruled on the situation of Jorge Glas and indicated that they have filed “an appeal in which we oppose the criteria issued by the judge in the habeas corpus case.

Through a statement issued this Sunday, the SNAI pointed out that “as is public knowledge, there are two final convictions once morest the person deprived of liberty and one of habeas corpus that orders his immediate release.”

“Faced with the judge’s decision, we have filed an appeal in which we oppose the criteria issued by the judge in the habeas corpus case, considering that the SNAI has carried out the actions within the framework of the protection of the rights of the deprived of freedom. However, in constitutional matters, the appeal does not suspend the sentence,” they said in the statement.

They also indicated that they will request “the respective disciplinary control from the Council of the Judiciary and other competent entities, in relation to the measures ordered by the judge in this case.”

Francisco Jiménez, Minister of Government, also sent a provision to the director of the SNAI, Pablo Ramírez, so that he exhaust all the mechanisms for challenging the immediate release of Jorge Glas, following the habeas corpus granted, with which he was released this Sunday.
