Environmental experts say that the mountains of Kashmir, which were famous for their snow-capped views, are now shrouded in smog, while there is no rain and snow in winter.

According to environmental experts, the citizens of Kashmir are currently living in an ‘acidic environment’.

Air density has exceeded two and a half percent, which has exceeded the limit set by the World Health Organization.

Health experts are calling this dangerous smog ‘acidic smog’ as a threat to human health.

Dr. Ayesha is an eye specialist practicing in Islamabad and Muzaffarabad.

He says that most of the Pakistan-administered Kashmir consists of hilly areas, the radiations in this area are higher than the plains, usually the patients who came to the hospital in winter complained of allergies, but There are now complaints that patients with chest infections and flu are now having eye problems, mostly red, watery, and eye swelling and pressure problems, but most importantly The point is that these diseases are not permanently caused by the eyes, they are caused by our environmental influences.’

Ayesha says that in the last four to five years, such problems were not seen, whenever the weather was dry, it would rain, the weather would be good, by which all these diseases would go to the cool-down stage, but now the situation is different. .

According to him: ‘The diseases are no longer at the cool down stage and they are due to our weather and all these problems are smog in and around Muzaffarabad. Our environment is becoming more polluted.’

Shafiq Abbasi holds the post of Director at the Environmental Protection Agency in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Talking to Independent Urdu, he said that the environmental condition of Muzaffarabad and its surroundings has deteriorated to a catastrophic extent.

The air quality index has dangerously exceeded the limit set by the World Health Organization.

According to Shafiq Abbasi: ‘Smog’s name comes from two leaders, MO smog and OG fog mixed together to form smog. For example, when wood is burned or forest fires are set or crop residues are burned in agricultural fields, gases from factory chimneys or fine dust raised during construction work, all of these make up smog.

“The carbon soot particles in smog are very small. The air quality index system uses a particulate meter to measure the air quality at a range of 5 microns to 10 microns. A particle of 2.5 microns is considered dangerous. The effects are dangerous.’

Environmentalist Shafiq Abbasi, highlighting the possibility of smog generation, told Independent Urdu that one of the main reasons for the smog spread in different cities of Pakistan is India’s practice of burning crop residues in agricultural areas.

According to him, as smog travels with the wind, this smog spread in Pakistan-administered Kashmir can also reach here by traveling from different parts.

As an immediate solution to this problem, Shafiq Abbasi said that rain is the only and immediate solution to this problem. Rain will solve this problem temporarily. After which we have to take such concrete steps to control this dangerous problem as much as possible.’
