Ice and snow reflect fragrance. Among the more than 18,000 volunteers at the Beijing Winter Olympics, 94% are under the age of 35. The service scope covers 41 business fields such as sports competitions, venue management, language services, and news operations. From competition venues to closed-loop stations, from media centers to community streets, from event security to epidemic prevention and safety, the busy figures of volunteers paint unique landscapes inside and outside the arena. At the opening ceremony, American snowboarder Tessa Maud burst into tears because of the words “Welcome to China” by college student volunteers. At the National Cross-Country Ski Center, cold weather caused ice to form on the eyelashes of a Winter Olympic volunteer. She said that although she cannot appear on the field as an athlete, it is equally meaningful to be able to contribute light and heat as a volunteer and convey the Olympic spirit in the way of Chinese youth.
