Smic, fuels, red stamp … What changes on January 1

General discount on fuel replaced by an allowance for the most modest households, free condoms for those under 26 are part of what comes into force on the first day of 2023.

Who says new year says setting up new measures. Between minimum wage and energy shield, let’s take stock together of what awaits us the day following New Year’s Eve.

Increase in the minimum wage

January 1st is often linked to a revaluation of the minimum wage. It had been confirmed in the middle of this month, and the increase is 1.8%. Thus, the monthly minimum wage is increased to 1353.07 euros net, when the gross will reach 1709.28 euros.

In the civil service, the salaries of 410 000 the lowest paid agents will also be revised upwards on the 1st January 2023.

Fuels: establishment of an indemnity

The State no longer supports 10 euro cents per liter of fuel for a few days. But compensation will be paid to the most modest workers who need their car.

In the amount of 100 euros for the whole of 2023, it concerns individuals with “an annual reference tax income per unit of less than 14,700 euros”, or regarding 10 million workers. You must apply for it on the impots.gouv.fr website.

Free condoms

Pharmacies will be able, from January 1, to give free condoms to minors and also to people aged 18 to 25.

Telephone canvassing

Another good news: it’s the end of commercial calls with numbers starting with 06 or 07. Telephone canvassing platforms will no longer be able to use these numbers linked in everyone’s mind to mobile phones.

They will now have to use numbers starting with 09. This will also help to cope with the shortage of numbers that can be allocated in the coming years.

Increase of the Navigo Card

The monthly subscription in public transport in Île-de-France goes from 75.20 to 84.10 euros, which corresponds to an increase of 12%. In addition, the single ticket reached 2.10 euros (increase of 10.5%), the ticket sold on board the buses 2.50 euros (+25%), finally the fixed price for the week increases to 30 euros (+31 .6%).

A limited tariff shield

If the government extends the duration of the application of the energy tariff shield, it will primarily concern gas and will limit price increases to 15%. This measure should result in an average increase in bills of around 25 euros per month for households heating with gas (compared to 200 euros per month without a tariff shield).

Regarding electric heating, this average increase should be around 20 euros per month instead of 180 euros without a tariff shield.
