How are food prices in Cuba today, July 29, amid inflation? This is how agricultural markets, some MSMEs and even state stores in hard currency, such as the Freely Convertible Currency (MLC), respond.

The island continues to experience fluctuations in the prices of various products, with a general upward trend. According to a recent report by the website 14yMedio, published this weekend, increasing shortages and widespread inflation have caused prices for basic products in Cuban markets to continue to rise, a trend that has continued for several months.

The report, based on data collected at different points of sale and agricultural markets, and MSMEs in the country, reflects the difficult situation that citizens face in accessing essential foodstuffs.

Although prices have not shown a significant increase in the last week, stability is not a relief, as costs remain considerably high in relation to the average salary of the average citizen in Cuba.

According to the report, the price of food in Cuba today in state markets, chicken would be over 312 pesos per pound, avocado at 45 pesos per pound, plantain at 35 pesos per pound.
