The National Frequency Agency has singled out more than 40 smartphone models for exceeding the authorized thresholds of electromagnetic waves. We take stock.
4G, 5G, Wifi: a harmful cocktail
The National Frequency Agency (ANFR) had forbidden in September the sale of iPhone12 in France because it exceeded those authorized to‘electromagnetic waves. After one update, smartphones might once once more be marketed. The National Frequency Agency wishes to point out the harmful cocktail for the health what can create several waves used in same timesuch as 4G, 5G, Wifi or even Bluetooth.
44 smartphones pinned for waves that are too powerful
The iPhone 12 problem is not isolated. Radio France has just revealed a broad investigation of the ANFR which pinpoints other phones for the same reasons. “Since 2017, 44 phones were also deemed non-compliant following DAS tests carried out by the ANFR,” revealed an engineer to Franceinfo. “In 36 cases, the manufacturer made an update to bring back into conformity her phone,” the engineer explained on news radio.
What phone models are pinned?
Several brands have called back their phones or update: Alcatel, Wiko, Huawei, Xiaomi, or even Samsung and Motorola. Two smartphones were purely and simply withdrawn from the market : the Simplicity V27 from the Emporia brand and the Doogee S88 PLUS.
What risk for health?
Currently, in France, only thermal risk is recognized as a consequence of electromagnetic waves by health authorities. But the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) has classified radio frequencies as “possible carcinogen“. Prolonged use of smartphones exposes you to other health risks, by disrupting sleep or the ability to concentrate.
