Smart home devices that can identify specific sounds are nothing new, but what if you might set them to ignore certain noises, like your neighbor’s dog barking or your partner’s snoring? and thus decrease the number of alerts sent to your smartphone? Well that’s exactly what the newly released Smart Home Monitorfrom the British company Earzzhe does.
Launched a few days ago, following reaching your Kickstarter funding goalthe Earzz Smart Home Monitor is an extremely compact device that uses artificial intelligence to detect a variety of sounds while you’re out of the house or simply distracted by the music playing on your headphones, for example.
The accessory manufacturer also points out that it can be used to help people with some type of hearing impairment, although it has not confirmed the reach of the accessory. According to the information, for now, the device can accurately detect 15 types of sounds:
Alarms Bells Doorbells Beeps Babies Crying Buzzers Meowing Children’s Sounds Coughing Barking Kettles Knocking Sirens Snoring Running Water
The Earzz application, available for iOS and Android, allows you to choose exactly which sounds you want to be alerted to, and, according to the manufacturer, it does not store any audio. Alerts are displayed in Notification Center on iPhone and, if you have one, conveniently on your Apple Watch screen.
It is possible to connect multiple devices to the app to obtain greater coverage within your home, with each of them positioned in a different room, for example. However, if you prefer, you can use just one and simply take it from room to room as needed.
The Earzz Smart Home Monitor has an internal battery with an autonomy of eight hours on a single charge, but it can also be used connected at all times to power thanks to its USB-C port, located on the back of the device. It also comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable included in the box, plus the manual, of course.
Available in black and white, the Earzz Smart Home Monitor is now available for purchase on the manufacturer’s website by signature of £95.88/ once more (£8/month), but anyone who decides to buy it at launch can take it for £80/ once more.
