The family collaboration between designer Georges Hobeika and his son Jad was embodied in a collection they presented as part of the Paris Couture Week under the title “Small Talks”. The duo used fashion to highlight human communication with humans, animals, and nature in a world that has become more virtual than ever before.
Georges Hobeika chose to present its spring-summer 2023 haute couture show in the Palais de Chaillot building located in the famous Parisian Trocadero Square. The rich heritage of the house formed the basis for more than 70 looks included in the show, and a number of her friends, husbands and individuals participated in it, emphasizing the importance of human communication and the warm feelings that accompany it. Men’s high-end tailoring was present as an essential element alongside women’s looks, and the designs were accompanied by the idea of relying on high craftsmanship with a comfortable practical nature that satisfies the requirements of the youth group.
The designs of this group reflect the advantages of vitality and modernity, which were manifested through dresses that seemed to float on the body, and through lines inspired by the elegance of Marie Antoinette that adorned renewed modern designs. The ornate embroideries, which constitute the iconic symbol of the house, came to create magical effects that looked like frozen water droplets, diamond chains, and an ethereal flow of feathers that perfectly embodied the concept of freedom that the group spoke of.
The color palette of this collection was characterized by the use of yellows, pinks, and blues along with classic black and white, and bright metallic tones with the adoption of a game of transparency and the combination of contrasts through the use of silk organza, satin duchesse, muslin, crepe, crystal-embellished lace, and gabardine. It was remarkable that the house used celebrities to participate in its show, in addition to models of different sizes and ages.
The costumes were accompanied by a range of accessories that varied between earrings and rings that took the form of chains decorated with crystals. The necklaces were executed in the form of three-layered chains, while the belts and choker necklaces were adorned with the orchid flower, which is the symbol of the house.
The presentation of this group concluded, as usual, with a luxurious wedding gown that mixed classic touches with a modern character, and was decorated with flowers made of satin duchesse that were hand-executed in multiple sizes.
