“It’s a bit like an on-demand taxi that supplements the normal public transport timetable.”

Such a concept is now being worked on in Adnet, Oberalm, Puch and Krispl-Gaißau. “It’s a bit like an on-demand taxi that supplements the normal public transport timetable,” explains Adnet Mayor Wolfgang Auer (ÖVP) in a TN interview. However, the project in Tennengau should not start until the end of the year at the earliest: “First it has to be embedded in the transport association, and it still has to be advertised which company will be commissioned with these driving services.” In addition to the existing bus stops, further stops would be defined, “the idea would be that you have a maximum of 300 meters to the next stop everywhere.”

The “Loigom-Shuttle” pilot project has started successfully in Leogang: “More than 600 people use it every month, which is more than we expected,” says Michael Lackner, chairman of the Pinzgau Association for Local Public Transport, Mayor of St. Martin/Lofer and a day job as a traffic planner at the transport association. “It should be an addition to the regular service, more of a feeder or an extension in the evening or at the weekend,” he emphasizes. “It shouldn’t be in competition with the bus and there shouldn’t be a taxi picking you up at home. There are fixed operating times, and you can order the bus between the possible stops within these times.” The aim is to create as complete a chain of routes as possible with local public transport.
