As soon as the beautiful season is back, we take out the light clothes revealing our pretty legs and it is not a few veins that will spoil the pleasure! Overview of the tips available to us to eliminate them!
What is the difference between varicose veins, varicosities and telangiectasias?
It’s not the same thing. The three are the sign of one capricious blood circulationbut varicose veins, caused by the dilation of veins at the subcutaneous level, are more imposing (they measure more than 3mm in diameter), are accompanied by pain, feeling of heavy legs and are at risk of progressing to venous disease. Varicosities (or telangiectasias, it’s the same thing), they are very small superficial purple-red veins. Located just under the skin, they are unsightly but normally painless, and do not necessarily pose a health risk. That said, it is better consult a phlebologist to take stock, especially if our legs hurt or are regularly swollen.
Who is affected by telangiectasia?
Varicose veins affect 50 to 70% of the population, due in particular to a fragility at the level of the capillaries. Farms are more often concerned, sometimes from puberty. Closely linked to hormonal secretions, varicosities can also appear during pregnancy or at menopause.
It’s risky, yes. If nothing is done, the finest venules can expand further, their color change from pink to red, then to purplish purple, and the network expands. To prevent this development, avoid exposure to the sun without concrete protection (SPF 50) and we consume a maximum of fruits, vegetables, fish and seafood. At the same time, very gentle on alcohol, spices… If we often stay up for long hours, we think counterbalance with a few venous antistasis gym movements (rise on tiptoe, then come back down, massage the soles of the feet with a tennis ball…) and by applying upstream on the calves a few drops of helichrysum essential oil diluted in a teaspoon of calophyllum oil. In case of prolonged immobilization, compression stockings are essential.
We can make them disappear temporarily, for example by using a tinted cream, concealer, concealer stick or foundation toner. There is also on the Internet uspecially designed range to camouflage vascular lesions, available in 12 different shadeswater resistant and UV protective: Covermark Leg Magic for sale on Amazon.
You can get rid of it quite easily thanks to micro sclerosis, for example, completely painless, which consists of injecting a sclerosing product into the varicosity in order to retract it. However, the finest veins often escape treatment. The laser, which coagulates the venule, gives better results and is not very painful, but it costs more. Count between €80 and €120 for micro sclerosis (several sessions are necessary), and between 250 € et 350 € for the laser (2 to 3 sessions are enough). As long as these interventions are purely aesthetic, the Health Insurance does not support them. Only problem : varicosities can reappear in other places.
