With the migration of the management system to the cloud and platform functionalities, the company reduced application development time
São Paulo, February 23, 2023 – SLC Agrícola, one of the largest grain producers, adopted the Microsoft Azure cloud service as part of its digital transformation strategy. The objective is to provide faster technological responses to accompany the company’s growth strategy. The SAP project, developed by the company, was born in this cloud infrastructure strategy, following the expansion of the business, in addition to reducing application development time.
The company’s great challenge, present in seven Brazilian states, was to automate processes, bringing more agility and efficiency in the management of its production units. “With the implementation of cloud solutions, we centralized all the information in one place, allowing employees to access it in real time, which facilitates communication between the units”, explains João Aranda, manager of Infrastructure, Governance and IT Services by SLC Agrícola.
According to Aranda, the company has become increasingly “digital”. “Today, we have all the processing and workloads of our farms running in a cloud infrastructure environment, which allowed us to provision resources faster”, he adds.
In addition to the management system, the company also invested in cloud development environments to speed up the validation of programming codes and automate the process of putting an already developed application into use.
“Bringing more efficiency in the management of production and resource use in the agricultural sector is one of the benefits that the adoption of the cloud provides when adopted in the operations of companies, as is the case of SLC Agrícola. The computational power of this technology brings more innovation and drives growth in the sector”, says Andrea Cerqueira, vice president of Corporate Sales for Customers and Startups at Microsoft Brazil.
SLC Agrícola also used Visual Studio and Azure DevOps in the project and was able to reduce development time for new applications. “We gained a lot of agility. With Azure DevOps we managed to create the automated conveyor belt that allows us to publish scalable applications in a few clicks”, explains Bruno Cruz, Systems Development Coordinator at the company.
With automated processes, using Power Automate and Power Apps, the company gained more agility and security and managed to build a complete and efficient cloud management system, without relying on physical servers. This process was a strategic element for the company to reach new heights in performance and results, accounting for an increase in the size of the business and the number of employees. “Today, we were able to migrate 100% of the farm files to Sharepoint, where the local files, with notes on actions to be carried out by our employees, are running in the cloud, with very good performance and which can be scalable. In addition, by migrating physical datacenters to the cloud, we save energy, contributing to a more sustainable business”, concludes João Aranda.
