Using artificial intelligence (AI), Neuro geonavigation integrates and interprets complex subsurface information in real time to autonomously guide the driller through the most productive layer or “sweet spot” of the reservoir. During conventional geonavigation operations, geologists must manually interpret this data to identify a well target., update the well plan and trajectory, as well as communicate this to the directional driller. Neuro geonavigation performs all these steps end-to-end, without any human intervention.

“Neuro autonomous geonavigation is a remarkable and industry-first achievement, being to drillers what the autonomous vehicle is to drivers,” said Jesus Lamas, President of the Well Construction Sector at SLB. “Using advanced cloud capabilities and cutting-edge AI, the system automatically selects the best route to drill the well based on high-fidelity measurements at the bottom of the well, which aligns the well trajectory with actual reservoir conditions. By drilling more consistent, higher-producing wells, our customers can optimize their field development plan while reducing operational emissions from drilling over the life of the asset.”

Neuro autonomous geonavigation is positioned on the technological base of Neuro autonomous directional drilling of SLB, which drills wells for a respective target defined according to the well plan. Neuro autonomous geonavigation takes this a step further by incorporating high-fidelity downhole measurements that ensure the well is positioned in the best part of the reservoir.

In Ecuador, SLB deployed Neuro autonomous geonavigation to drill a 2,392-foot lateral section of an onshore well for Shaya Ecuador SA. During this operation, SLB’s autonomous system completed 25 autonomous geonavigation trajectory changes, with each interpretation cycle and decision taking just a few seconds. By remaining in the most productive layer of the reservoir, the well became one of the best producers in the country.

## AI Revolutionizes Drilling: A Conversation with ⁤SLB

**host:** ‌Welcome back to the show. Today, we’re talking about groundbreaking advancements in⁤ the ⁣energy sector, specifically in drilling‍ technology. Joining us is Alex Reed, [Alex Reed Title] ‌ at SLB, a ⁤leading global technology company. Welcome to⁤ the show.

**Alex Reed:** Thank you for having me. It’s great to be here.

**Host:** Let’s jump right in. SLB recently⁢ announced the launch of Neuro™‌ autonomous geonavigation. Can you tell our viewers what this exciting‌ technology is all about?

**Alex Reed:** Absolutely. Neuro autonomous geonavigation‍ is truly a game-changer. It leverages the power of‍ AI‌ to autonomously guide the drilling process‍ in real-time. Essentially, it’s like an ⁣”autopilot” for drilling, allowing the system⁢ to make intelligent decisions based on complex subsurface data.

**Host:**⁣ That sounds amazing. How does this differ from traditional drilling methods?

**Alex Reed:** In conventional ‍drilling, geologists manually interpret vast amounts of subsurface data‌ to guide the drill bit. This is ⁢a‌ time-consuming and sometimes imprecise process. Neuro geonavigation automates this entire‍ process, seamlessly ‌integrating and ⁤interpreting the data ‍in seconds, leading to dramatically improved accuracy⁣ and efficiency.

**Host:** What are some of the key benefits of this ⁣technology?

**Alex Reed:**⁤ The benefits are multifold. Firstly,‌ it enables us‍ to drill more efficiently and accurately, hitting the most productive layers ⁢of the reservoir. this results in⁢ higher-performing wells ⁣and‍ increased production. secondly, it reduces the⁢ need for human intervention, leading to ‍significant⁢ cost savings and operational efficiency.

**Host:** These are notable advantages. Can you give us ‍a real-world‌ example of how effective Neuro geonavigation can ⁢be?

**Alex Reed:** [Alex Reed] Absolutely, we recently deployed this technology⁤ in Ecuador for Shaya ⁤Ecuador SA.

We drilled a significant lateral ‍section of an onshore well and the results⁤ were phenomenal. The‍ system autonomously made 25 trajectory changes, navigating the well through⁢ the best part of the ‍reservoir.Consequently, this well became one of the top performers ‌in⁢ the ⁤country.

**Host:** Thats amazing! It⁤ seems like this technology⁤ has⁤ the potential to revolutionize the entire drilling industry.

**Alex Reed:** We firmly believe⁣ so. [If time allows, expand on the long-term vision for this technology and its impact on reducing footprint]

**Host:** Alex Reed, thank you so much for sharing this exciting news ⁣with us.

**Alex Reed:** My pleasure.

**Host:** And that’s all⁣ the ‍time we have for today. We’ll be right back after the break.
