A senior US Defense Department official announced on Friday that Washington has allocated $750 million in new military aid to Ukraine.

In a press briefing, the official, who preferred not to be identified, said that the new aid includes additional ammunition for the “HIMARS” systems and 16 “howitzers” as well as observation marches and anti-mine vehicles.

Speaking regarding field developments in the Russian war on Ukraine, the American official revealed that Wagner groups are carrying out operations inside Ukraine as part of the Russian forces.

The Wagner groups are close to the Kremlin, although the Russian authorities deny this.

Since the flow of Russian forces across the Ukrainian border last February in what Russian President Vladimir Putin describes as a “special military operation”, the conflict has ended in a war of attrition mainly raging in eastern and southern Ukraine, following Russia failed to enter Kyiv.

To counter Russian aggression, Washington sent billions of dollars in aid to Kiev.

At the beginning of August, the US Department of Defense announced sending a billion-dollar military aid package to Ukraine, including additional missiles for the US HIMARS high-precision artillery systems.

The ministry said in a statement at the time, that the package also includes more short and medium-range surface-to-air defense missiles of the “Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System” (NASAMS), and more “Javelin” anti-tank missiles, in addition to other ammunition.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, which plunged the country into an unprecedented conflict, displacing millions of Ukrainians, and causing massive damage to infrastructure.
