Lena Dürr narrowly missed out on placing in the top 3 once more at the World Cup slalom in Levi. Mikaela Shiffrin won. Andrea Filser achieved the best result of her career.
Dürr, 31, was 0.97 seconds behind the winner Shiffrin (1:52:21 minutes) following the final run on Sunday (November 20, 2022). Second was Wendy Holdener from Switzerland (+0.28 seconds), third was Petra Vlhová from Slovakia (+0.68 seconds).
After the first round, Dürr was still second, but the second round just isn’t hers. You might see that last season when she was first in three races following round one but never won.
Or on Saturday, the first day in Levi, Finland. Dürr was in the lead there following the first run, too, finishing fourth in the end. And now, on the second day, fourth place once more.
When she was later asked how she would rate her World Cup opener, Dürr said it was “not good and not bad” been. “The end has to be written differently. Now it’s time to get two good runs down.”
Filser gets the best World Cup result of her career
Apart from Dürr, only Andrea Filser took part in the final run from the German starters. Filser, 29, started seventh – and she drove well, really well. She was then also in front, only other drivers came following her. And they drove even better.
In the end Filser was 13th, it is her best World Cup result in slalom ever. So she secured half the World Cup standard. She is still missing a top 15 placement for the winter highlight in February in France.
Jessica Hilzinger, Emma Aicher, Marlene Schmotz and Lara Klein missed the final of the top 30.
Shiffrin is catching up on the leaderboard
Winner Shiffrin, 27, is getting closer to Lindsey Vonn’s all-time record with her 76th World Cup win. Shiffrin is still missing six World Cup victories to draw level with her compatriot in the all-time list of the best.
