The towering, menacing Behemoths of Skydance’s new VR game, aptly named *Behemoth*, demand unwavering courage from any hunter daring to step into the Forsaken Lands. Players take on the role of Wren, a solitary hunter seeking to shatter a pervasive curse while navigating a desolate world teeming with danger.
While visually impressive, I found differences in playability and visual fidelity depending on platform. I encountered challenges on Quest 2, with blurring and visual artifacts. Reflections and level of detail were adequate but a noticeable step below what the powerful hardware of Quest 3 offers. On Quest 3, the visuals were sharper and the performance smoother except for occasional stuttering.
The PlayStation VR2 version provided a vital leap forward. The OLED display delivered rich visuals, especially in darkened environments. The enhanced haptic feedback — especially the profound feeling of face haptics — added to the immersive quality. However, the visual imperfections associated with the PSVR2‘s Mura technology were somewhat distracting.
