Sky Formula 1: Exclusive Coverage of Bahrain Tests and Season Kickoff

A bang just before Formula 1 lets the engines roar once more. This year, too, the broadcasting rights for Germany belong to Sky. The pay-TV giant has held this exclusive for several years.

While all 24 Grands Prix can be seen on Sky, until recently there was uncertainty regarding what the winter tests in Bahrain would look like. These will take place from February 21st to 23rd. Now the television station is bringing light into the darkness.

The new Formula 1 season starts in two weeks with the Bahrain Grand Prix. The pilots can get used to their new company cars in the same place next week. And motorsport fans can watch it all on Sky!

On Friday (February 16th) the pay-TV provider dropped the bombshell. “Finally Formula 1 once more! We are starting the F1 tests live and in full length from Bahrain,” it says on the social media channels.

On all three days there will be nine hours of full-on motorsport. The morning test drives take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday to Friday. The late slot is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

In between there will be press conferences with drivers and team bosses. There are likely to be numerous questions and insights here. If you want to go into the season well prepared, you should definitely follow the tests.

Sky shares with RTL

Sky will then start its record season. However, this year you won’t be transmitting entirely alone. RTL has acquired sublicenses for a total of seven races and is also allowed to broadcast these Grands Prix.
