SKY announces agreement with American Tower to expand its fiber broadband service

the operator SKY Brazil and the company telecommunications infrastructure American Tower Corporation (American Tower) announced a partnership to offer broadband internet via fiber optics on a neutral FTTH (Fiber to the Home) network.

The partnership should make SKY Fibra, the service launched by the company less than a year agocan reach more homes thanks to the network neutral and American Tower. The pay-TV operator seeks to expand the number of its broadband customers.

According to SKY’s Broadband director, Rodrigo Fernandes, the expectation is that the start of commercial operations on the neutral network of American Tower will take place in the second quarter, with operations in more than 40 cities in Minas Gerais by the end of the year.

“Following our Sky Fiber expansion plan, American Tower will add value by strengthening the availability, reach and quality of service that we launched last year as part of our investment strategy in technology and innovation”, he adds.

It is worth noting that, through the partnership with American Tower, SKY will be able to carry out its service expansion plan without the need for duplication of its own infrastructure, through the adoption of the use of shared networks.

“With more than three years of commercial operation in our neutral network, having the opportunity to serve operators of different sizes in the execution of their broadband strategies, we believe that we have developed the necessary maturity and flexibility to support SKY’s plan”, commented the senior director of Fiber and New Business at American Tower, Daniel Laper.
