Owner of SKY and DGO, Vrio plans to launch a Portuguese version of its DNews news channel in Brazil. To date, it has operations in Spanish in South American countries such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay.
At the end of July last year, DirecTV GO added DNews to its schedule in the national market, but with a schedule that rotates the attractions of the other countries in which it operates, only in Spanish.
The arrival of DNews Brasil was publicized by the website TAVI Latamwho heard confirmation directly from Vrio’s Vice President of Own Content, Leonardo Flores, and the company’s Director of News, Marcelo Salomone.
According to the executives, the new news channel will have more programming and live coverage, surpassing the 320 hours per month that it shows at the moment. In addition, there will be new programs, such as a show regarding Latina women, an attraction regarding SMEs and a format classified as “innovative” for health, society, politics, economy, music and the environment.
“We verified through measurements that consumption is more important when live events happen and the media is in the place of news.”
Leonardo Flores
Vice President of Owned Content at Vrio
To complete, there is already a journalistic alliance signed with the news agency Europa Press. She arrives to join other channel partners, such as Deutsche Welle, BBC, AFP and Archyde.com.
The expectation for the debut of the brand in the national territory is for the second half of 2023 or the first half of 2024.
