Ubisoft’s game release date Skull and Bones has been postponed once more, we learned on Wednesday. Ubisoft has confirmed the news, which was reported by my box earlier in the day.
This postponement comes just under two months before the game’s release, which was scheduled for November 8, 2022. According to IGN et The Verge, This is the fifth release date change for Skull and Bones.
Ubisoft issued a statement on its Twitter account to explain the circumstances surrounding the decision:
“Although the development of Skull and Bones is complete at this point, the extensive feedback received during our various technical tests and the Insider program convinced us that we might use a little more time to tweak and balance the experience even more, and make sure you get the best experience that we can offer,” the statement read. “We have therefore decided to push back our initial launch date to March 9, 2023”.
Announced at E3 in 2017, the game Skull and Bones has often changed course during its development. It was supposed to be released in 2018, but was pushed back to 2019, then March 2020. Then the game was pushed back to release between 2021 and 2022, and another time between 2022 and 2023. On July 7, you were told that the game would finally see the light of day on November 8, 2022.
Skull and Bones is rendered a bit like the “running gag” of video game media and communities, and I might have put in the background of this article the theme song of Benny Hill to accompany him. But frankly, if you allow me: Skull and Bones was supposed to come out a day before God of War Ragnarök. Even if the two games are totally different, it’s very big competition. There is also Sonic Frontiers, Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Warzone 2 et Callisto Protocol coming out around the holiday season.
Even if it’s been a lot of postponements, it’s not as strange as the saga of Beyond Good and Evil 2, a game announced when the series Lost was still playing on TV, for which very few details are known.
Skull and Bones sort sur PC (Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia et Luna.
