Game News Skull and Bones: multiplayer at the heart of the experience? Ubisoft clearly defines its course

On the occasion of the annual meeting aimed at taking stock of the financial year regarding to close, the French publisher raised a multitude of subjects. Among these was mentioned the case of Skull and Bones, a very chaotic project that has often been talked regarding because of the mistakes in its development. However, Ubisoft wanted to bring good news!

Announced in 2017 then successively postponed, the project Skull and Bones was nothing reassuring and the little news we had regarding him did not allow us to see clearly. But it was without counting on the words of Tom Hendersonan insider and freelance journalist well known in the industry and renowned for his information, last september. Through a few tweets, Tom Henderson offered us something to draw the outlines of the game and announced a potential release date.

After the many turmoil around the development process, Skull and Bones seemed to sail on a calm sea, not without colliding some pitfalls as we reported to you at the very beginning of the year. Determined to leave these stories behind, the French publisher made reassuring remarks once morest the game during a recent meeting. : the opportunity to learn that the game is now following a very specific course and that it hopes to set foot on the ground soon.

Skin-on-bones multiplayer content

Since its announcement, Skull and Bones has traveled seas of it and these have not made it easy for him to cross, forcing him to revise his plans and modify his course. Initially, the game was described as an experience in the heart of the Indian Ocean to share with other players or to live alone. However, the publisher preferred to reorient its game towards a dimension much more focused on multiplayer. : In fact, the recent remarks of Frédérick Duguet, the company’s chief financial officer, support this idea.

It’s a very promising new IP (Intellectual Property) that focuses primarily on multiplayer, so very consistent with our strategy to bring multiplayer competition and cooperation in a large open world, with a striking and attractive folklore ( …) It’s of course a longer development time than we’ve had on this game, but we’re very happy with the art direction and progress of the game so far.

Ubisoft has not commented further on Skull and Bones, nor confirmed the information that we obtained a few months ago. However, the latest leaks mentioning a potential release by the end of the 2022-2023 fiscal year, i.e. a release no later than March 2023. In view of the comments made today by Ubisoft, which reaffirmed its positions on this subject, it would seem that Skull and Bones sailing straight towards a release, if all goes well, which would take place in the next twelve months, i.e. between April 2022 and March 2023.
