This was noted by the Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas, speaking today to the TV station SKAI and he added that in this direction checks are being made on two companies for unfair profitability. “Soon we will announce the results.
We will announce administrative measures to see the prices of baby milk decrease”, said Mr. Skrekas, while adding that yesterday there was a meeting with the representatives of the supermarkets.
“Accuracy is the biggest problem for households and the checks will continue,” the minister said, recalling that yesterday another fine was imposed, this time on a profit-making air conditioner company.
Businesses that are fined, the minister said, then have to adjust their prices.
“In the first quarter of the year we will proceed with structural reforms which will help to de-escalate the prices of products on the shelves, such as detergents, household cleaners and diapers” he announced and at this point he mentioned that yesterday there was a meeting with the representatives in this direction of the supermarkets in which the ministry’s objectives were presented, with the primary objective being that, starting from March, the prices of the products that were unjustifiably high should be reduced.
According to protothema, when asked if the fines are being collected, he said that proof of collection of thousands of euros has already been filed by the ministry.
“The checks will continue but the goal is to reduce the prices on the shelves,” noted Mr. Skrekas, adding that following September the price increases have almost been zero.
